Lots of fun this October with the pumpkin Bee. She loved being a pumpkin and learned a new word. Every time she sees a pumpkin in a door these days she scream 'Pumpkin'! We had a pumpkin carving night with Sabrina and Calvin and had a good time all around...carving, throwing pumpkin gunk, eating seeds, lightening the pumpkins, and taking pictures.
Bia loves to sing...and one of her favorite songs is Old McDonald's. The problem is that whenever we ask 'and on his farm he had a...' The only answer we get is... Cow! So, this fall we decided to go on a farm sprint to meet all kinds of animals... After all is harvesting time and farm life is bustling....
And on his farm he had a...
Summer in Gainesville is hot, hot, hot...so we tried to do lots of activities outside and by the water. Here is a quick summary of the last few months...
This is my favorite picture of John and Bia... it really shows how comfortable and happy she is with her father. This was taken at the Butterfly Exhibit at the FL Museum of Natural History, Father's day, June 2008.
It's been a while from our last blog, little Bia was just turning one and starting to walk... and we've been trying to catch up with her since! It’s been a lot of fun to see our little Bee fly around, explore and run, and she is keeping her parents in good shape too - running after her.
Since her birthday one of the main highlights has been Bia's first trip to Brasil where she met most of her familia brasileira. We had a great time seeing everyone, just wish we could have stayed longer and did not run around so much. Well, maybe next time … Here are some of memorable moments.
Buzzy Bee is one! Oh, and what fun we had on her one year old birthday. Cousins came from afar... Lili and Hadley from Atlanta, Jake, Ben and Maddie from Minnesota. Many friends joined in the fun... Naomi, Owen, Calvin, Tal, Dominique, Sofia, Paulinho, Joao Vitor and even Auntie Bee Wendy-lin... and many other friends of mom and dad's buzzed on by to play and sing Happy Birthday to lil' Bee. We had Brazilian treats (brigadeiro, coxinha, empadinha, pao de queijo), hot dogs and popcorn. We had some fun activities too... We all buzzed around with our antennas and stingers (thanks to the help of auntie Tracy and Rosana). And we played ' pin the stinger on the bee', and smashed the pinata to pieces. The pinata had already gone headless because mom put too much candie in it! Well, Bee surely had a wonderful time and wants to thank all who came and thought of her on her birthday. Here are some pictures to show all the fun we had.
This time of the year is just perfect...and even more now after Bia's
birth. In the lunar year she turns one on Good Friday...but by the
Gregorian calendar her one year birthday is just in a couple more weeks. Our Easter was beautiful...the weather was great... Peter and KB came to visit... we all worked in the garden...great friends joined us for a leg of lamb and sweet bread... all in all we cannot complain.
We worked hard in the back area of our house. Thanks Pete and KB for the great help! Now we have a small lawn and a few roses in the back...still have a lot to do in the front of the house though. Sunday we had a nice breakfast and went off to church...looking our best. Doesn't Bia look like a China doll? Dress given by vo' Ruth. So cute! Then back at the house John made one of the best legs of lamb I've had in my life. Peter and Barty approved...though Barty had an indigestion later after swallowing the huge bone - no more cooked bones for him!
We have been doing a lot this past month... late February we met with the 'Sa Erps' and Phil and had a fun time in Miami, also were there to register Bia as a Brazilian! She now has dual citizenship...John also wants one, but alas... he needs to live in Brasil for a while... good reason for us to move down there in the future!
In early March we sponsored a post-Carnaval Mirim for the kids... Bia, of course was a bee...mom was a flower bush... and dad...the bee keeper. Bia had a blast and even took her first steps sambing away - passinhos de samba! She is in the right direction for being a better dancer than her mom (and dad!). She's taken several steps by herself since then... We still have to catch it on film and once we do, we'll post it here!
Later on, mom went away to NY for work... and on her way back met Bia and dad in Orlando from where they all drove to West Palm to meet with grandparents Engels! We had a great weekend all together. Thanks for the visit.
So- here are the visual highlights...
Miami beach, South beach, Hyatt pool
Lots of work these past two months...not much time for play...but some nonetheless...here are the highlights...
My first attempt to post a video...no sound, but you can see how Bia is crawling like a storm and playing lots...we're having loads of fun!! Another fun moment is eating...and Bia loooovvvveeees banana (unlike her mother!) as you can see in the picture, Bia had a banana facial... very good for the skin!
